Trinity Health Unit Clerk - MG1 Step Down Unit - Full Time (St. Mary) in Langhorne, Pennsylvania

Description:

St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Unit Clerk to join our team!

Schedule: 7am-7:30pm.

The primary purpose of this position is to improve quality. To provide clerical support to the nursing staff through medical records maintenance, ordering supplies and equipment, transcription of physician orders and handling inter and intra departmental communications to assist with the coordination of patient care.

  • Protects the privacy and confidentiality of patients and employees.

  • Greets visitors, patients, families and physicians and directs them professionally. Addresses patients, families, visitors, co-workers and physicians with courtesy and respect.

  • Establishes and maintains a positive working rapport with all physicians and nursing staff. Works as a team member demonstrating a positive, supportive and helpful attitude towards patients, families, visitors, co-workers and physicians.

  • Promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment according to regulatory standards. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, laws and standards – Joint Commission, Dept of Health.

  • Answers patients call lights and assists them promptly. Answers the telephone using Trinity’s phone etiquette standards, directs all calls appropriately, takes an accurate message and delivers to the appropriate individual. Maintains communication resources, ex: Phone lists, on-call schedule, provider phone numbers.

  • Respects patients’ rights by knocking on the door, calling patient by name and identifying self before entering the patient’s room.

  • Assures all patients have a correct identifying wristband daily.

  • Prepares charts for new admissions and transfers assuring all required forms are placed appropriately in the chart. Places laboratory results, test results and other documentation in the appropriate section of the patients’ chart.

  • Monitors supply inventory, completes and directs requisitions for supplies, forms, equipment or services required. Orders equipment and supplies for patient care according to the physician’s orders. Notifies proper personnel of any equipment malfunctions.

  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with the Nurse Manager and communicates any problems, concerns or issues promptly to the Nurse Manager. Appropriately seeks assistance of the nurse manager or designee for conflict resolution.

  • Willingly accepts and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • High School Graduate/Equivalent

  • Technical School/1 Year College & 2-4 years experience preferred
