Description:

FT OR RN nights with weekend and holiday rotation.

  • Assesses patients’ physical, emotional, spiritual, and learning needs and provides the appropriate nursing intervention.

  • Communicates transfer of patient responsibility and change in patient status to all appropriate personnel.

  • Assumes accountability for managing the delivery of patient care.

  • Assesses and responds appropriately in an emergency situation to prioritize and meets the patients’ immediate needs and documents all interventions according to policy.

  • Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and constantly reevaluates based on changing situations to improve delivery of patient care.

  • Acts as a patient advocate and protect the patients’ rights through safe and ethical practice. (Eg…site and patient identification, “time out”, protection of patient privacy) and documents all interventions appropriately.

  • Delegates work to the care team appropriately and plans delivery of care according to patient acuity and staff competencies.

  • Performs as preceptor when necessary.

  • Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc…) demonstrates good scrubbing skills, handles and passes instrumentation appropriately, and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.

  • Demonstrates good circulating skills, i.e. anticipates needs, selects equipment and supplies in organized manner, and consults informational resources as needed to improve delivery of care.

  • Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition and maintaining proficiency with usage and promptly addresses problems in functionality and knowledge deficit with appropriate resources.

  • Utilizes down time constructively by demonstrating a proactive approach in supporting role for other members of the care team.

  • Works independently and utilizes needed personal and informational resources appropriately.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
