Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of electrical design engineers in the full development process of hardware, including requirements development, schematic design, component selection, layout completion, supplier selection, bring-up, system integration and test & approbation.

  • Support team by assisting in the development and execution of work schedules.

  • Lead team to work cross-functionally with embedded firmware teams.

  • Represent the portfolio in key architecture discussions and cross-site platform activities.

  • Work with senior technical staff in developing key architectures for the future of the portfolio.

  • Support cross-functional innovation plan in alignment with product roadmap.

  • Create ways of working that are transparent and accessible to all stakeholders.

  • Participate in operational roadmap planning for the portfolio.

  • Support lifecycle management activities including EOL, cost down, and field complaint investigations.

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement with regular retrospectives.

  • Support team in risk management and mitigation strategies.

  • Take active role in mentoring team members to higher enjoyment and performance in their current role

  • Create career path development for current team members by identifying, maintaining and growing the competencies of the team.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience designing, testing and troubleshooting high-speed PCB designs for embedded systems

  • 3+ years of leading teams in product development

  • Must have demonstrated success coaching and mentoring a team of engineers.

  • Understanding of relevant electrical design standards for commercial products

  • Experience with compliance & design for a global market [for example IEC 62368-1]

  • Competence in EMC design and debugging [for example EN 50130-4]

  • Experience in design for signal integrity / power integrity

  • Experience with digital and analog design and simulation

  • Experience in thermal management and design for reliability concepts

  • Competence with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, thermal chambers and current-probes.

  • Familiarity with standard interfaces: SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, UART, DDR, MIPI, LVDS

  • Familiarity with common MCU, FPGA & SoC technologies

  • Familiarity with embedded Linux development [device trees, drivers & bootloaders]

  • Strong communication skills, both presentation and written

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Six Sigma or Project Management credential

  • Familiarity with the basics of digital imaging [digital video interfaces, image sensors, ipipe, varifocal lenses]

  • Experience with use of ERP/MRP systems for daily functions [SAP, Oracle etc]
