Systems Engineer Systems Engineer IIII NASA Glenn Research Center Cleveland, Ohio HX5 is an award-winning provider of engineering, research and development, and technical services to clients such as NASA and the Department of Defense. Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide. HX5 is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The position requires a high-performing, mid-level systems engineer to support the technology development and integration efforts for the Communication Services Project (CSP) Near Earth Operations (NEO) Testbed. The systems engineering efforts will include preparing and supporting peer reviews for: systems requirements, preliminary design, critical design, systems integration checkpoint, and testbed operational readiness. In addition, responsibilities will include contributing to the following deliverables: Concept of Operations Risk Assessment Systems Engineering Management Plan Technical Performance Measures Implementation Plan Integration Plan Verification Plan Operation Plan and Procedures Interface Management and Control The CSP NEO project is managed by the Space Communication and Spectrum Management Office at NASA GRC, and additional projects that require the same skillset will be supported as needed. The candidate will work collaboratively with the CSP NEO technical team and subject matter experts in formulating, executing, and maturing systems engineering processes throughout all phases of the project. In addition, this work will assess the systems engineering support required for the duration of the project, which includes planning and executing reviews per NASA guidelines. Principally, the candidate will work closely with the NASA team to ensure that the project has well-defined systems engineering processes in place and that they are successfully executed. The selected candidate will support the Human Space Flight Systems Branch at NASA GRC, which is responsible for systems engineering leadership and shared project system architect leadership roles to enable the successful implementation of NASA human spaceflight or human spaceflight-enabling programs and projects. Required Skills: Highly motivated and able to work independently Committed to successful collaboration with the NASA team and industry partners Familiarity with project formulation, execution, and maturation that is consistent with standard systems engineering processes Excellent written and documentation skills Excellent oral communication skills Desired Skills: Familiarity with systems engineering processes used by NASA, DoD, or industry Familiarity with NASA space-related projects Familiarity with MagicDraw or similar software tool Familiarity with space communications Education/Experience: Completed at least a bachelor's degree with a major in engineering or other STEM-related degree, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience: Bachelor's degree with 5 - 10 years of relevant experience Master's degree and 3 - 6 years of relevant experience Ph.D. degree and 0 - 3 years of relevant experience Other Position Requirements: Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
