D&W Fine Pack Team Lead Production - 1st Shift in Lake Zurich, Illinois

Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinates and provides administrative support to production, warehouse and/or logistic departments. Directs the activities of employees and may be required to perform some of the same work as that of the group on our 1st shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

• Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines

• Know emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.

• Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

• Understand and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures

• Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately

• Actively participates in the D&W safety improvement process/activities, e.g. Hazard Identification, Safety Suggestions, Safety Teams, etc.

Tasks

Consult with Department Supervisor to establish work priorities. Plan work to be performed by the group. Assign daily tasks and priorities to production employees within assigned group.

  • Train group members on safe and correct work procedures and required performance

  • Provide assistance to group members in resolving on-the-job technical problems.

  • Arrange for necessary tools and supplies. Utilize vendors' supply catalogs and training manuals as needed.

  • Inspect, coordinate, and record work performed by the group.

  • Reconcile manufacturer orders.

  • Create Production shop packets and manufacturer order labels.

  • Recommends to and consults with Production Supervisor on work assignments for employees in various job groups.

  • Assumes overall supervisory duties in the absence of the Production Supervisor.

  • Relieves group members during breaks, lunch, etc., from time to time.

  • Maintains safety supplies in the work area, replenishing as needed from central stores.

  • Conduct cycle counts for forklift drivers.

  • Determine daily work activities and establishes priorities for Die Setters.

  • Determine need for repair and maintenance work.

  • Support & Comply with SQF standard practices and policies.

  • Assist SQF teams, audits and documentation, as necessary.

  • Comply with required reviews of SQF documentation and tasks.

  • Recommend to and consult with Department Supervisor and Plant Manager on staffing and provide effective recommendations on candidate selection.

  • Prepare and conduct quarterly employee performance reviews.

  • Works withing established procedures with moderate degree of supervision.

  • Provide effective recommendations on disciplinary matters and implements disciplinary procedures. Provide decision-making input on employment termination.

  • Within the guidelines of authorized Company policies, programs, procedures, budgets, laws and good business ethics, coordinate and control the activities, plans and programs of the employees within assigned area of responsibility.

  • Measure coil after production run and communicate weight

  • Evaluate various stations of the production operations to ensure optimum efficiency, ensure presses are running at standard cycle time and SPM.

  • Check employee’s attendance at start of shift

  • Oversee and provide guidance in the repack area

  • Provide hourly case counts to supervisor and communicate any issues observed

  • Ensure the hit lines have takt boards

  • Maintain communications between employee and Supervisor to ensure procedures are well understood

• Follow all D&W policies, procedures and standard work when performing any of the job duties.

• Follow plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP’s

• Support the Plant’s Food Safety initiatives by completing plant required Food Safety training and by implementing / complying with the required practices.

• Support company Food Safety efforts through commitment and compliance to SQF standard practices and policies

• Assists other workers with specific chores as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

• Willingness to work and follow verbal/written instructions

• Ability to lead employees and delegate work assignments.

• Ability to read, write clearly and perform basic mathematical calculations.

• Intermediate computer skills

• Must be able to read, write and speak English

• Works within established procedures with moderate degree of supervision
