Waste Connections Lead Gas Technician in Lake Panasoffkee, Florida

Waste Connections is looking for a Lead Gas Technician to join our team at our Heart of Florida Landfill located in Lake Panasoffkee, FL.

Pay Range: $2-$30+/hr. DOE

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine system inspections and repairs on the landfill.

  • Work with Lead Landfill Gas Technician to ensure compliance.

  • Maintain relationships with landfill employees as well as consultants and vendors.

  • Using gas analyzer to monitor gas wells and probes.

  • Performing maintenance on pneumatic pumps, including the removal of pumps in wells, inspections, and repairs.

  • Monitoring the amount of liquid in gas wells.

  • HDPE pipe fusion.

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a gas tech

  • Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision.

  • Ability to be coachable and learn how to navigate the landfill in a safe manner.

  • Work outdoors for most of the day.

  • Maintain a good attitude and a hard work ethic.

  • Be willing to perform a variety of tasks on any given day.

  • Provide on-call response to gas collection system.

  • Experience operating hand and power tools.

  • Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Experience with leachate collection systems.
