American Battery Solutions Mechanical Engineer Temporary in Lake Orion, Michigan

American Battery Solutions is looking for two 6-month temporary Mechanical Engineers in Lake Orion, MI. Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer - Temporary is responsible for the design, development, release and execution of core mechanical architecture and components. The individual will be responsible for defining and documenting battery components, design and release responsible for key mechanical systems and overseeing validation of those components and systems. Responsibilities: * Apply mechanical knowledge of engineering principles and practices specifically for high voltage battery system for mobile applications, including battery module design, system design and associated electrical components. * Development of new and existing product designs from prototype to production considering application, cost, weight, performance, thermodynamics, reliability, manufacturing, assembly, and field serviceability. * Development of drawings and requirements for mechanical systems, perform system integration and validation for the development and mass production of battery solutions. * Specifies mechanical components and ensures products meet internal and customer requirements. * Develops system designs including actual CAD design of these systems. * Supports the development of mechanical system DFMEAs, DFM/A, etc. * Evaluates supplier specifications & validation data to ensure selection of the proper suppliers. * Key contributor in the evaluation of prospective suppliers. * Develops mechanical system DVP&Rs for integration into or support of overall ABS system DVP&Rs. * Supports all prototype system builds ensuring parts are on time. * Troubleshooting any issues with mechanical systems. * Contributes to team growth by completing projects in a timely manner. * Adhere to all company policies, processes and procedures. * Adhere to federal and state regulations. * Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. * Predictable and reliable attendance. Position Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent degree. * Minimum of three (3) years of experience in automotive product development. * Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools. * Adept in data processing and statistical analysis. * Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, as well as effectively communicating with suppliers. * Familiar with the product design process. * Self-motivated problem-solver who pays attention to details. * Challenges the status quo and strives for continuous improvement. * Abides by safety standards and protocols.
