American Battery Solutions Director, Systems Engineering in Lake Orion, Michigan

Job Summary: As the Director, Systems Engineering, you will lead a team of engineers and technical specialists responsible for designing, developing, and testing high-voltage battery systems for electric vehicles and energy storage applications. You will play a key role in driving innovation, ensuring product quality, and meeting customer requirements. The Director, Systems Engineering will be adept at developing & executing strategic initiatives for the systems team and resolving technical issues. Performance is measured by effective project execution. Responsibilities: * Lead the systems engineering team in the development of high-voltage battery systems for electric vehicles and energy storage applications. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure product design and development align with company goals and objectives. * Monitor systems project performance and provide recommendations as required. * Develop and implement engineering processes and best practices to ensure quality and efficiency in product development and testing. * Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs. * Hire, train, and supervise engineering staff members. * Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes. * Provide technical leadership and guidance to the systems engineering team, including mentoring and professional development opportunities. * Collaborate with customers to understand their technical requirements and provide technical solutions to meet their needs. * Stay current with industry trends and developments in high-voltage battery systems and apply this knowledge to product development and testing. * Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and partners to ensure the availability of high-quality materials and components for product development and testing. * Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications. * Adhere to federal and state regulations. * Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures. * Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. * Predictable and reliable attendance. Position Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. * Master's degree preferred. * Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in systems engineering, product development, or related field. * Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading and managing a team of engineers and technical specialists. * Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage battery systems, including design, testing, and validation. * Experience with electric vehicles or energy storage systems is highly desirable. * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. * Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners.
