American Battery Solutions Advanced Manufacturing Engineer in Lake Orion, Michigan

Job Summary The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will drive the design, and procurement of equipment and tools, ensuring prototype equipment is being maintained, tooling is functional and available for SOP, process development, and assistance with systems. As well, the position requires reviews, testing, and analysis to validate product designs meet DFM and a process can be created to ensure DFA. There may also be a need to assist with production startup and debugging in Springboro, Ohio as needed. Responsibilities * Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. * Develops and evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; soliciting observations from operators. * Studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. * Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. * Assures product and process quality by participating in testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; confirming manufacturing processes. * Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. * Assist with equipment and tool design. * Lead the manufacturing evaluation of new product concepts (DFA), creation of manufacturing plans, and estimations of production costs. * Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resource documentation such as DFA's, PFDs, PFMEAs, and WI's. * Lead prototype and start-of-production activities necessary to meet product quality and business plan objectives. * Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed * Support prototype operators, technicians, designers, and engineers to create and run processes for product launch. * Follow and make recommendations for improvement as necessary to document Company Best Practices. * Develop other junior engineers and employees to improve their abilities and skills. * Support company vision, values, goals, and business plan. * Maintain a safe and clean working environment. * Adhere to corporate, federal, and state employment policies. * Adhere to all company policies. * Other duties as assigned. * Predictable and reliable attendance. * Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. * Predictable and reliable attendance. Position Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience. * Bachelor's or another degree in (APPLICABLE AREA) or equivalent relevant experience in (APPLICABLE AREA). For non-degree may be replaced with High school diploma or GED and applicable certifications as appropriate, i.e., Journey worker status/certificate. * Minimum of five (5) years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing facility. * Working knowledge of PLC (Allen Bradley preferred), HMI's, relays, contractors, servos, steppers, low voltage circuits, high voltage circuits, torque drivers, bar code systems, database storage, vision systems, etc. * Experience with quality management systems. * Strong technical and communication skills. * Working Experience with machine electrical cabinet layout and machine controls * Team player. * Knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 14001. * Computer skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Solidworks.
