Job Role and Summary:

A Building Maintenance worker is responsible for providing continuous maintenance and repair works of a building

or any structure. They also perform general cleaning tasks such as dusting the furniture and equipment and

sweeping and mopping the floor while following safety procedures implemented by the head of the building

services. This professional is also accountable for doing electrical repairs such as replacing lights bulbs or fixing

damaged wires.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Regularly assesses the condition of the building and performs maintenance when needed.

• Responds to daily facilities work orders and works on special projects.

• Installs and makes repairs to interior walls, tile, carpet, and coverings made of various materials.

• Records and logs maintenance repairs and inspections.

• Digs, sweeps, shovels, and pressure washes as needed.

• Performs scheduled general cleaning of the building’s interior and exterior aspects while strictly following

safety protocols.

• Checks the condition of wires or any electrical device and performs repairs as soon as possible.

• Performs light to heavy carpentry work when needed.

• Inspects water pipes and drainage systems and performs plumbing tasks to maintain safe conveying of liquids

and liquid wastes.

• Keeps an eye on garbage disposition by providing a system for collecting and segregating the different types

of garbage.

• Installs and makes repairs to various hardware, to include but not limited to door closures, mortis, and

cylindrical locks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.

• 3-5 years in-depth knowledge of common tools, materials, equipment, and methods used in repair work in the

plumbing, carpentry, and electrical trades.

• Possesses excellent ability to perform carpentry, plumbing, and electrical works and repairs.

• Checks inside and outside for things that need to be fixed such as lights, washrooms for leaks, etc.

• Assists with inspection of all A/C units on a daily basis for proper functioning.

• Capable of responding to building emergencies as soon as they arise.

• Possesses ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.

• Moves, relocates office furniture, items as needed.

• Able to move and lift, twist, and bend

• Ability to work on elevated surfaces.

• Able to work in extreme temperatures and noise levels.

• Must keep work areas clean
