Overview

St. Luke’s Health–Brazosport Hospital is located on a beautiful 25-acre campus in Lake Jackson Texas. Offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and comprehensive treatment services our hospital is home to a 154-bed patient tower level III trauma center advanced cardiac care center and full-service multidisciplinary cancer center. Our team consists of over 100 board-certified physicians and nearly 600 highly skilled employees to meet our patients’ medical needs. Responsibilities

The RN in the PACU department will utilize the nursing process to identify patient needs and priorities of care through assessment, planning, and delegation of care based on patient needs post-anesthesia and evaluation of the patient’s response. Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization. This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.

  1. Maintain a knowledge base regarding sedation/analgesic and anesthetic agents and techniques, physiologic and physiological response to the recovering patient.

  2. Assess, plan, intervention for and evaluate the physical and physiological response to analgesia; able to plan for the risks and the interventions for those risks associated with the administration of sedation, analgesia, and anesthetic agents.

  3. Assesses patient's health and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs.

  4. Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.

  5. Collaborates with other care staff to assure smooth transition for patient throughout the facility using proper hand off techniques.

  6. Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures.

  7. Provides patient and family education.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required

  • BCLS required

  • ACLS (within 6 months of hire)

  • At least one (1) year of recent acute care experience or successful completion of an RN refresher course for acute care nurses

  • Previous PACU experience preferred

Pay Range

$35.00 - $50.75 /hour
