WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): The Non-Congregate Shelter (NCS) Shelter Resident Transition Team Member supports the delivery of Red Cross services to clients staying at non-congregated shelters. The NCS Team Member completes a range of tasks necessary for non-congregate shelter operations and compassionately and professionally interacts with clients, vendors, partners, and hotel operators to ensure their needs are met. As an NCS team member, you will be assigned a caseload of families to support and provide SRT disaster casework services to develop disaster recovery and housing transition plans for each family; helping families overcome their disaster-caused recovery and transition barriers. Services offered will include empowerment, transition planning, coaching, problem-solving, information, referrals and resources, advocacy, and when needed, needs-based financial assistance. Documentation will occur in RC Care, the Red Cross' client management system of record and in the Shelter Client Information Application (SCIA), the Red Cross' Shelter Client management system. Training and mentorship provided.

This position will be supporting clients throughout Columbia, Suwannee, Hamilton, Madison, Jefferson, Lafayette, Taylor, Dixie, Gilchrist, and Levy counties. Team member must be able to travel to all counties.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD

NCS Shelter Resident Transition Team Members support the day-to-day activities at non-congregate shelter sites which may include:

  • Check In/Check Out of clients

  • Communicating Information to clients and maintain consistent contact with clients

  • Coordinate with community long-term recovery partners and collaborate with Disaster Case Managers (DCM) providers for the provision of any needs-based financial assistance related to exiting the non-congregated shelter.

  • Communicate concerns, needs, and other issues to supervisor to help address gaps in care for clients.

  • Maintain vendor relationships.

  • Complete tasks and duties as assigned by Supervisor at assigned non-congregate shelter site(s) which may include feeding, site registration reconciliation, or itinerating to multiple locations each day for client casework.

  • Collect and update information about clients and interact with clients to address their identified needs.

  • Proactively anticipate and address the needs of clients and partners.

  • Certain responsibilities may vary depending on the assignment.

    Standard Schedule : This is a temporary assignment expected to last three to six months. Work hours are 10 hours per day 6 days per week.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

  • MUST BE Computer and mobile phone literate and understand basic computer programs such as outlook email, Teams, word, excel, & web-based systems.

  • Travel: An ability to legally drive with a valid Driver's License required.

  • Physical requirements may include the ability to sit or stand for long periods and adapt to long, irregular hours, and frequent schedule changes.

    WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Have a passion for and proven-track record of assisting individuals/families overcome recovery roadblocks

  • Ability to manage large, complex caseloads

  • Have worked as a caseworker or case manager, including working with homeless populations, working as a disaster case manager, and/or working with resettlement efforts supporting clients create a new normal

  • Must be able to provide compassionate care for clients with diverse needs and backgrounds.

  • Excellent client and partner customer service skills.

  • Demonstrate time management for daily completion of all tasks for all clients.

  • Good organizational and active listening skills.

  • Responsible and punctual.

  • Good communication skills with workers, clients, and partners

  • Good conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
