POSITION TITLE: MAINTENANCE WORKER I

DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS

MIN. STARTING SALARY: $31,200.00

The City of Lake City is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department. This position requires semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining various grounds, fields, and facilities.

The ideal candidate:

  • Will have knowledge of facilities maintenance functions;
  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance and turf installation;
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment to do related work;
  • Knowledge in concrete and/or asphalt,
  • Knowledge of grounds keeping practices and principles.
  • Will have the ability to operate light equipment;
  • The ability to perform heavy manual labor under various weather conditions;
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions;
  • Be skilled in the operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and related tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • 1 year of maintenance experience involving custodial activities
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's License. CDL License Preferred. This job requires a valid driver's license for the employee to drive their personal vehicle or a company vehicle for work-related duties as required by the employer.
  • Applicants will be required to pass a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen.
