Northrop Grumman P-3 Senior Principal Structural Engineer in Lake Charles, Louisiana

Are you ready to put your Structural Engineering experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, our Defense Systems want you to join our Team as a P-3 Senior Principal Structural Engineer and support of our P-3 Program.

This program supports the Customs and Border Protections critical mission. This position is located in Lake Charles, LA and may have a hybrid opportunity for some remote work. However, you must be located or willing to relocate to Lake Charles, LA in order to he hired into this position.

Your duties include:

Providing liaison support and developing detailed structural analyses in support of drawing release or aircraft repairs including but not limited to free body diagrams, internal or external loading and calculation of internal stresses.

Specific duties include:

  • Primary engineering liaison at Lake Charles Depot, JAX, Florida AOS Site and Corpus Christi, Texas AOS site. You will travel to the sites when needed.

  • Work with P-3 drawings and structure to understand load paths and identify standard structural repair and develop non-standard structural repair.

  • Work in a depot level maintenance engineering and Manufacturing support for ageing aircraft maintenance and repair.

  • Perform structural/stress analysis of aircraft structural repairs.

  • Develop and assemble engineering reports for Program Management.

NGSkills

Basic Qualifications :

  • A minimum of 13 years of aircraft structural engineering experience and a High School diploma or equivalent. A BS degree and a minimum of 9 yrs of aircraft structural engineering experience may also be considered.

  • Experience working in a depot level maintenance environment, manufacturing support engineering role for an ageing aircraft for structural repairs and modifications.

  • Experience in performing a wide variety of classical stress analysis and hand calculations Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) processes.

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Familiarity with MRO Engineering operations.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain the required Dept of Homeland Security Background Investigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline.

  • Experience working on US Navy P-3 aircraft modification and/or maintenance

  • Development of non-standard structural repair.

  • Ability to identify alternate and/or substitute materials for repairs and mods Familiarity with metallic and honeycomb structural joints/fasteners analyses.

  • A current Secret or higher clearance.

Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
