POSITION:Title I SwoopParaprofessional

REPORTS TO:Title I Coordinator

HOURS OF WORK:Varies by position (26-29 hours per week)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of a Title I Paraprofessional is to provide additional support to elementary students in the areas of math and reading using special strategies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work with individual children or small groups of children to reinforce skills in mathematics and/or reading
  2. Implementing special strategies for reinforcing skills based on the special needs and abilities of each child
  3. Prepare materials and activities that support learning growth for the students in the area of mathematics and/or reading
  4. Model positive behavior
  5. Monitor children to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
  6. Participate in staff in-service when directed by Title I Coordinator(s)
  7. Help to maintain a clean and organized learning environment
  8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent and current Indiana Paraprofessional Certificate.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:Must be willing to submit to continuing training as required by the State, school or the local Special Education Cooperative to maintain the position.

EXPERIENCE: Related job field work experience with demonstrated ability to work without constant supervision and an interest in educating children.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL SKILLS:Ability to sit, stand, walk, ascend/descend stairs, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk and hear.

REQUIRED GENERAL SKILLS:Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to process tasks using internal software, internet and generally accepted office software such as word and excel.
