Engine Field Service Technician

Description

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Lafayette (Louisiana) who will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on engines and related components at the customer site with minimal direction.

  • Engages with customer in a courteous and professional manner. Ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.

  • Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools.

  • Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.

  • Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engines and related components in the field.

  • Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets and warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens.

  • Completes training in line with skill and business requirements Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.

Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislations.

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).

  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.

  • Locally valid driving permit.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Minimal level of workshop related experience required.

  • Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.

Most of the work is on: OFF highway-equipment with small and medium engines-Trash compactors-gensets-some ON highway-lots of HHP work-PG work.

Working hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm. Salary starts at 47k

(Intermediate):

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs

  • Performs engine overhauls with limited direct supervision

(Advanced):

  • Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools

  • Larger more complicated engine rebuilds

  • Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation

This position will require a Med-Card and we will also be required to complete a DMV driving report. CANDIDATE MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD.

  • A current valid license is required for this role

  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical

  • 3 years driving experience

  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
