Roper St. Francis Physical Therapist - Home Health (PRN) in Ladson, South Carolina

HOURS: AS NEEDED

Job Summary: Provide optimal patient care by evaluation, program planning and implementation of treatment for patients referred for physical therapy in order to restore function and/or prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part. The Physical Therapist evaluates, plans, and provides care to patients with a deficit in self-care, mobility, safety, range of motion or strength.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of a school of Physical Therapy approved by the American Physical Therapy Association. For individuals beginning practice on or after January 1, 2008, must have graduated from a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and passed the National Examination approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.

Experience: No previous experience required.

Experience specific to Home Health: Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Physical Therapist.

Licensure/certification: Current licensure to practice Physical Therapy in the state of South Carolina is required. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Knowledge/Skills: Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals. Must be able to communicate effectively with people of various cultural and educational backgrounds.

Other: Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all work related and sensitive information. Requires a mature individual who projects themselves in a professional manner

For positions in Home Health only -requires operation of a vehicle for Roper St. Francis Healthcare business. Due to this job requirement, the selected candidate/employee must possess a valid, current driver's license. In addition, the selected candidate/employee must be insurable under the Roper St. Francis Healthcare vehicle insurance plan, which will be verified by reviewing licensure and driving record.

Contacts: Constant interaction with internal and external customers to include (but not limited to) patients, families, physicians, employees and visitors.

Work Demands/Environment:

Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department. Home Health positions may also be exposed to unclean environments, toxic substances, pharmaceutical preparations, hazardous and unsafe driving conditions, and other conditions common to delivery of health care in the community.
