COMMUNITY AND EMPLOYMENT PROFESSIONAL

Hourly Salary:  $16.59 - $17.20 per hour (depending on Med Tech experience)  

Status:  Part-time and Full-Time 

Shift: Monday - Friday (hours varies from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm)  

Location:  Charles County, MD

  

Job Description:

Part-time and Full-time positions (Up to 40 hours per week) are available (Monday – Friday, varied between the hours of 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM) for an interested applicant to support people with exploring activities in their local community and/or support while at their jobs. The perfect applicant will enjoy supporting people in trying new opportunities in the community, developing meaningful relationships with community members, maintaining employment and discovering other meaningful activities or employment of the person's choice, while achieving their goals. Preference will be given to the person who can demonstrate the abilities to be patient, organized, motivated, and a self-starter. The applicant will have the ability to create a personalized schedule for the people supported and listing meaningful opportunities that they choose with staff support. Desired character traits include role model, being compassionate, pro-active, observant, caring and patient. Duties Include but not limited to:  

  • Implementing the interest and likes of the person(s) supported.

  • Monitoring and evaluating their interests and needs.

  • Assisting with the development of the "Personalized Plan(s)" and achieving established outcomes/goals for the person(s).

  • Documenting the progress of outcomes/goals and/or other supports as listed the person's Individualized Plan(s).

  • Planning activities around areas that may peak their interest in community engagement.

  • Planning activities that will provide the person(s) with opportunities to expand their community relationships and social skills.

  • Actively participating in all aspects of the person(s) supports.

  • Coordinating supports in the community 5 days per week.

  • Support provided while at work.

  • Identifying possible employment in the community of the person’s interest.

  • Assisting with Discovery process to identify a person’s passions and interests related to meaningful activities and employment.

Preference will be given to the person who can demonstrate the abilities to take charge and help enhance this woman’s involvement in the community.  The applicant will need to create a meaningful and productive monthly calendar and assist her in coordinating her painting classes with local businesses. Desired character traits include: being energetic, well-organized, self-motivated, innovative, self-starter and compassionate.

The applicant will also possess the ability to problem solve and work independently as they assist this person to achieve their personal, social and vocational goals. An ideal employee will serve as an active role model who welcomes a challenge.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, pushing and pulling. 

  • Valid driver's license with 2 years driving experience.

  •  Clean driving record
