Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Medicaid Collector to join our team. The Medicaid Collector will be responsible for managing the Medicaid billing and collections process to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services provided to residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Medicaid billing regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Medicaid Billing: Prepare and submit Medicaid claims for services provided to residents in accordance with state and federal regulations.

  • Documentation: Review resident records to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation to support Medicaid claims.

  • Verification: Verify Medicaid eligibility and coverage for residents prior to submitting claims.

  • Follow-Up: Monitor outstanding Medicaid claims and follow up with payers to resolve any billing issues or denials in a timely manner.

  • Reimbursement: Work closely with Medicaid agencies and managed care organizations to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services rendered.

  • Compliance: Stay up-to-date on Medicaid billing regulations and compliance requirements to ensure adherence to state and federal guidelines.

  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on Medicaid billing and collections activities, including aging reports and denial trends.

  • Communication: Collaborate with internal departments, including finance, admissions, and medical records, to resolve billing-related issues and optimize revenue cycle processes.

  • Training: Provide training and support to staff members on Medicaid billing procedures and documentation requirements.

  • Customer Service: Respond to inquiries from residents, families, and third-party payers regarding Medicaid billing and reimbursement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medicaid billing and collections, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting.

  • Strong understanding of Medicaid regulations and reimbursement methodologies.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately review and analyze documentation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of billing software and systems, such as Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), is a plus.

  • Certification in healthcare billing and coding (e.g., Certified Professional Biller) is desirable.
