Job Summary:

This Trane Commercial Systems' Engineering Project Manager position includes responsibility for leading engineering new product development projects within the Arctic Packaged and Modular Chiller product lines. This role will lead cross-functional teams over multiple disciplines with an objective to create next generation market leading chiller platforms. This role will also have direct supervisory responsibility over a small team of Mechanical Systems Engineers. Success in this role depends on the ability to coordinate with a global team of engineers, designers, product managers and operations professionals.

Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

• Work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Product Engineering, Product Management, Operations, and Service to deliver innovative new chiller products into production

• Plan and direct the efforts of engineering and technician teams to meet performance, reliability, quality

• Demonstrate responsiveness to the customer (internal and external) and be quality minded in performance of all duties

• Apply interdisciplinary engineering expertise to solve system design and product application problems

• Mentor and coach engineering team members with a passion for personal development

• Manage team member assignments to support product development strategy

• Understand and utilize a broad range of cross discipline technical inputs to make Analyze the test result data, perform refrigeration cycle review, heat transfer calculations and prepare reports

• Achieve schedule, cost, and quality goals as committed to in project plan

• Ensure change management processes are utilized effectively to ensure customer satisfaction and scope/risk management

• Develop and deliver technical progress reports to leadership team

• Overnight travel (less than 10%)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of engineering work experience is required

• Experience with HVAC/R systems is a plus

• Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is a plus

Key Competencies:

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and project management skills.

• Knowledge of product development processes

• Must have good verbal communications skills and good technical writing and documentation skills

• Experience with application of key hardware components within a refrigeration system such as coils, fans, compressors, motors and controls

• Demonstrate consistently high leadership qualities, including the ability influence and gain acceptance from members of cross-functional teams without direct authority, to deliver business results.

• Passion for continuous learning and willingness to adapt to changing environments.

• Understanding of HVAC system functions including refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow and ventilation.

• Must be a self-starter with a high energy level and a high commitment to career

• Must have the ability to quickly and efficiently understand, condense, and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions

• Data & Analytics, making data driven decisions and programming knowledge is a plus

• Able to take on a leadership role in a cross functional, global design engineering team environment which requires interaction with design teams, engineering teams, manufacturing and operations staff relative to project requirements, both inside and outside the company

Base Compensation Range is $110,000 - $130,000. Disclaimer: This base salary range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
