Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer will influence business bottom line results by completing, supporting and facilitating quality activities for the electrification of heat/engineer to order (EOH/ETO) business initiative. This role will work with manufacturing and engineering teams across multiple locations to help develop, launch and support new product offerings for the business within the engineer to order approach the business is leading. The role will interact with product development, manufacturing and customer facing team members to ensure products from this initiative meet our quality and customer expectations. This position will report to the Applied Quality Leader.

This role will be a Hybrid work schedule with the majority of on-site work taking place at our La Crosse, WI facility; we are also open to candidates based out of Pueblo, CO or Grand Rapids, MI. This is considered a safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support the strategy for design verification planning and reporting (DVP&R) that will be utilized for each new product offering that is developed in the ETO approach.

  • Supporting and reviewing the manufacturing process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) that will be utilized for each new product manufacturing processes.

  • Take part in and provide critical thinking to the on-going product design reviews at various times during the development of new ETO offerings.

  • Development and leading of the early launch containment (ELC) activities for each ETO related order to ensure Technical Support and Design Teams are in place to support our customer related activities.

  • Partner with the local quality team to develop on going quality at the source strategies for new products and ensure key variables for quality success are documented and tracked for future success of each given product.

  • Ensure supplier quality deliverables are managed through the entire process of engagement of new suppliers through the fully qualification of each component that may be done in a different manner than a traditional PPAP approach.

  • Develop a strong understanding of equipment performance, Critical To Quality (CTQ) elements and provide key functional elements that drive the customer experience.

  • Facilitate and complete Root Cause Analysis work across multiple functions to ensure corrections can be made to improve manufacturing processes and product performance as new ETO related products are shipped to customers.

  • Partner with the appropriate sales teams members to be the voice of the customer and ensure their requirements and expectations are fully met by the EOH/ETO initiative including appropriate training, start-up support and packaging/shipping requirements.

  • Develop with peers and communicate core messaging about quality improvement efforts and the changing culture that is occurring across all aspects of our business to improve the customer experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, operations management or related discipline.

  • 8+ years of experience in quality or quality engineering in a design, engineering or manufacturing environment that has embraced best practices in terms of Advanced Quality Planning, DFMEA deployment and Production Part Approval Processes.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and applied knowledge in: APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP in a non-traditional manner.

  • Experience in quality management, operations, lean manufacturing processes including visual management.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills/team player including professional customer and supplier interaction capability.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% with some peaks at higher levels across multiple locations.

  • Problem solving techniques, process improvement tools, statistical and sampling techniques, SPC, process capability, traceability, control points

  • Project management and planning tools, measuring and monitoring of project activities and project documentation. Proficiency in information technology systems utilized in Quality Management Systems.

Base Pay Range: $100,000-130,000/annually
