Job Summary:

Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader will provide leadership, influence, and hands-on engagement to develop, direct, and implement production process methods and engineering support to enable the La Crosse Operations manufacturing agenda. This role will oversee the full spectrum of the operations manufacturing engineering continuum. This position is responsible for developing engineering talent, manufacturing processes to meet our operational requirements. This key plant staff leadership role will be the driving force for engineering excellence to achieve the long-term plant objectives and growth aspirations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops quality and manufacturing process concepts for component and end product manufacturing.

  • Supports development and maintenance of quality and process documentation including standard work generation and modification.

  • Plan required resources each year, determine annual departmental budget and administer the budget during the year, including periodic forecasting.

  • Recommend and justify requests for capital; analyze and evaluate production capacities.

  • Implements capital equipment including evaluation, selection and run-offs.

  • Set objectives and allocate resources for product development, productivity, cost reduction and quality improvement projects.

  • Provide engineering support for special engineered products.

  • Support production engineering needs (Ready to Serve).

  • Report status of engineering projects as required.

  • Maintain adherence to BOS, & TTPPM standards.

  • Drive project speed and measurable results on schedule and budget.

  • Review engineering designs for NPD confirming manufacturing capability or sourcing capability.

  • Create product and PFMEA (Process FMEAs) to drive control plant development.

  • Review engineering changes to existing products to determine effects on current manufacturing processes; update processes and documentation to support viable changes.

  • Determine effects of process and product changes on tooling, CNC programming and other methods of manufacture.

  • Assist internal and external suppliers with process and quality issues, determine root causes and formulate appropriate correction action. Ensure final process is capable and stable.

  • Active participation in plant transformation including leading cross functional teams.

Essential Skills or Knowledge:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent personal leadership, change management and ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally.

  • Ability to conduct a dialogue that is intellectually honest and supports diversity of ideas.

  • Demonstrated skills in leading teams.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and ability to create standard work.

  • Ability to work with minimal technical direction.

  • Ability to represent the company internally and externally and build alliances.

  • Develops talent; ability to lead a technical team demonstrating both breadth and deep technical expertise.

  • Ability to drive to results with a high degree of urgency and speed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field required.

  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience including experience in a manufacturing plant environment required.

  • MS Degree in Engineering is a plus.

  • Demonstrated leadership of projects and teams of at least 1-2 years.

  • Demonstrated knowledge an use of engineering standard work (BOS).

Base Pay Range: 110,000-140,000 annually
