Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will ensure proper operation and maintenance of building utilities including steam generation, ammonia refrigeration, plumbing, compressed air, hydraulics, low pressure blowers, HVAC, wastewater pre-treatment and other building systems critical to operation of the facility as well as production equipment maintenance and repair as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Preventative Maintenance on all building utilities and production line equipment as needed

  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor operation of critical building infrastructure

  • Accurately document daily rounds, PM’s completed and work hours

  • Repair deficiencies found during rounds and PM’s

  • Work closely with vendors and contractors to conduct repairs and periodic inspections

  • Work closely with EHS to document required periodic inspections of the facility, equipment and grounds

  • Change filters on HVAC equipment, air compressors, hydraulic system, product blowers, etc.

  • Wastewater pre-treatment operation, chemicals, upkeep, and PMs

  • Work varying hours during planned projects and outages

  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures

  • All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor/manager

Required Education and Experience

  • Technical diploma in a related field

  • 2 years of relevant utilities maintenance experience

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Ability to make decisions based on standard practices and operating procedures

  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation per OSHA requirements and work while wearing an Air Purifying Respirator

  • Advanced understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and refrigeration system

  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 3 years of Ammonia refrigeration systems / PSM experience

  • 3 years of food facilities maintenance experience or more

  • 1 year Waste Water treatment experience

  • Steam boiler operation experience

  • Associates degree in a technical field

  • SAP experience

Working Conditions

• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.

• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.

• Product weight: up to 50 lbs.

• Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
