WTW Associate - Executive Compensation & Board Advisory in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

As an ECBA Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting advisory projects related to executive compensation practices. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with senior team members, analyzing compensation data, and providing valuable insights to boards and executives.

This position requires close collaboration with consultants within WTW, both locally and regionally, to deliver high-quality client work. It also involves building trusted advisor relationships with clients, exploring cross-selling opportunities for other WTW products/services, and being an integral part of a globally connected team.

The Role

  • Assist in overseeing advisory projects related to compensation plans for top executive positions, covering both short-term and long-term incentive plans, as well as remuneration practices for the Board of Directors.

  • Conducting in-depth market research and statistical analyses to evaluate executive and director compensation data and trends, annual incentive plans, and the design and practices of long-term

  • Developing financial models and projections to assess the financial impact of compensation plans and to determine the valuation of share prices and LTIP instruments.

  • Conducting board assessments for listed companies, which involves strategic interviews, analyzing board processes, composition and dynamics, and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Participating in broader Work & Rewards projects, encompassing various aspects such as performance management, organizational design, workforce diagnostics, HR strategy, and more. This includes designing and developing frameworks and solutions to address client challenges related to human capital.

  • Ensuring the effective management of multiple prestigious client projects, including drafting statements of work, project plans, and budgets that involve multiple workflow streams and client teams.

  • Engaging in marketing initiatives by providing support in the development of compensation methodologies, contributing to proposal writing, and conducting surveys

  • Contributing to thought leadership by developing points of view on executive compensation, as well as topics related to board remuneration and board effectiveness.

  • Establishing trusted advisor relationships with client contacts through effective communication and the efficient, high-quality execution of projects.

The Requirements

  • Min. 3-5 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, business development, or finance-related background

  • Relevant industry experience in private sector compensation/rewards or a background in compensation/rewards consulting will also be considered

  • Strong aptitude for strategic thinking and analytics and ability to develop, design, and formulate frameworks, strategies, and solutions.

  • Possess the capacity to effectively execute and manage deliverables and projects

  • Strong client relationship, interpersonal and team skills

  • An executive presence with polished and well developed oral and written communication skills

  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity

  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues

  • Strong analytical and creative skills

  • Enjoy training and mentoring junior staff

  • The ability to see the "big picture" and to make the most of the resources of related practices to address the clients' business challenges

  • An undergraduate degree is required; A degree in finance, actuarial science, accounting, economics, engineering and/or professional qualification such as CFA, ACCA, ICAEW, CPA would be considered advantageous
