King and George LLC Heavy Truck Refuse Driver in Kodiak, Alaska

Responsible for garbage collection services in order to ensure that garbage is transported and disposed of in an appropriate manner. The Refuse Truck Drivers is responsible for operating a dual-axle garbage truck in a safe and appropriate manner. All activities must be conducted according to the deliver and collection schedule and all relevant policies and procedures. The truck driver must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures and in accordance with the PWS.

Primary Duties: Operate all equipment in a safe and effective way Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on all equipment Clean equipment as schedules and/or required Ensure all equipment is safely and securely stored Report maintenance needs of all equipment in a timely manner to supervisors Collect garbage from businesses and other facilities as per schedule Maintain daily records of pick-ups Pick up refuse and recycle bins in other areas as required Dispose of garbage and recycle materials in designated matter and locations. Education, Experience, Skills: High school education or G.E.D equivalent Must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) in the English language with both internal and external clients and co-workers Valid Commercial Drivers License class B Will be required to become and remain certified for respirator use. Preferred CDL with Hazardous endorsement 2 - 3 years experience as garbage/refuse driver

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; at times lift and carry as much at 50 pounds. Is required to climb in and out of vehicle at frequent stops. Will be required to pass a pulmonary function test and be certified for respirator use

Job is performed in various settings at the USCG Base Kodiak, in office settings as well as in the various shops, commercial buildings, residential housing units and in all type of inclement weather conditions, exposed to unpleasant sights and smells. He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Qualifying Factors As a condition of employment, will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base.
