About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Commercial Manager to provide commercial management to to Major Projects in D&RS and to support in the delivery of the business plan and ensuring that work tendered and undertaken is on a sound commercial basis and in accordance with commercial policy to maximise profit to risk ratio.

This role can be based from any UK Jacobs office.

Key Resonsibilities:

  • Accountable to the Head of Commercial / Commercial Director for compliance with Jacobs DOA Matrix, policies and procedures

  • Relationship management - maintaining links with key Client personnel

  • Support the projects to follow governance processes and all necessary approvals are obtained

  • Support accurate and timely preparation of paperwork and information for presentation to review boards

  • Support the implement effective reviews and approvals in Major Projects

  • Support the Major Project commercial teams with the preparation of claims and variations

  • Build commercial awareness in business through training, coaching and mentoring

  • Management of less senior commercial and project staff

  • Support risk management meetings for tenders and projects

  • Support the Major Project commercial team to prepare business offers to maximise sustainable profit

  • Regular review on all major projects in business to maintain robust commercial project management and report on mitigation and improvement activities as necessary

  • Support dispute resolution ensuring compliance with company policy

  • Liaison with Commercial Manager – Contracts and Group Legal on all business contractual matters

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Significant experience in a major project environment

  • Authoritative presentation skills

  • Preferably degree qualified (or equivalent) in commercially related discipline

  • Significant experience in a senior commercial role, preferably in a technical environment

  • Good understanding of commercial law

  • Experience in competitive tendering and commercial risk management

  • Experienced negotiator

  • Experience in building a network of commercial contacts

  • Understanding of technical issues and of project and business finances

  • Excellent commercial judgment with the ability to understand, argue and negotiate conditions of contract
