Position Summary:

Under general supervision, prepares workpapers, analyses and reports required by tax regulatory bodies. Works within a team framework to accumulate data needed for reporting, to prepare consistent workpapers, and to communicate relevant issues. Adheres to schedules devised to meet filing deadlines. Requires an increased understanding of government regulations including rules, familiarity with law, ability to research laws, rules and regulations. Increased levels of understanding government procedures and protocols, as well as ability to interact with governmental entities on a variety of issues.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares annual, federal, state, and local tax returns, and other reports and applications as required and/or appropriate. Such reports may be filed with local, state, and/or federal agencies.

  • Prepares recurring calculations and analyses including but not limited to quarterly tax estimates.

  • Prepares and maintains work papers required to document and support filings and data submitted to regulatory agencies and other outside parties.

  • Assists with data collection necessary for filings.

  • Ensures consistent reporting where applicable.

  • Research routine tax-related issues, including tax laws, regulations, and their application, ensuring compliance and optimization of tax strategies.

  • Monitors, evaluates, and communicates changes and updates to laws/regulations that impact Covenant Health entities.

  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Bachelors degree in Business (Accounting or Finance preferred). An active CPA License is preferred for candidates applying for this position.

Minimum Experience:

Three (3+) or more years of related experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have experience working in tax and fixed asset software.
