Job description

HAVIN, Armstrong County's Domestic and Sexual Assault Center is seeking a professional to work with families involved with Kay's Cottage, Armstrong County's Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) and provide outreach and education in the community. *Full-time 37.5 hours per week. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and knowlege of legal, medical and social systems. Act 33 & 34 Clearances, FBI Background Clearance, Pre-Employment Drug Sreening and a valid PA Driver's License are required.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, behavioral health, and child welfare to provide support and advocacy for families in need.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Crisis assessment and intervention, risk assessment and safety planning and support for children and family members at all stages of involvement with CAC.
  • Presence at CAC during the forensic interview (FI) to participate in information sharing and assessing needs of child and supportive caregiver.
  • Provide direct services to families in crisis situations.
  • Access to transportation to interviews, court, treatment and other case-related meetings.
  • Collaborate with community resources to ensure families receive comprehensive support.
  • Coordinated case management.
  • Coordinate and facilitate education/prevention programs.
  • Develop education and training materials.
  • Provide counseling to child sexual assault victims and their significant others, individually and in group settings.
  • Maintain required statistical records.

Qualified applicants must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, social science or related field and/or equivalent experience regarding sexual assault and child abuse.
  • Some knowledge and/or experience in working with child abuse and sexual assault victims.
  • Abilities require walking up and down stairs, carrying items that may weigh up to thirty pounds.
  • Ability to work independently yet compatibly with others.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including some after hours and/or weekends).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, education or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Pass Act 33 & 34 Clearances and FBI Background Clearance
  • Pass Pre-Employment Drug Screening
  • Have a valid PA Driver's License
  • Complete HAVIN's domestic violence/sexual assault counselor training program
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Knowledge of child protective services and crisis management techniques
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
