The Walt Disney Company Sourcing Manager – Sustainability Projects & Engineering in Kissimmee, Florida

At The Walt Disney Company, our commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility drives our mission to integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of our supply chain.

As a Sourcing Manager – Sustainability Projects & Engineering, you will play a critical role in driving our company's commitment to sustainability by tackling challenging material implementation and optimization projects for vertically developed product within our hardlines categories.

You will work closely with cross-functional product creation teams to integrate sustainability considerations into all our development and decision-making processes.

You will be responsible for establishing and implementing strategies to source low environmental impact plastics and resins, fostering relationships with suppliers, executing material implementation projects, and ensuring adherence to our sustainability goals.

Your expertise and dedication will be crucial in supporting our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our products through responsible sourcing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and internally socialize sustainable/low-impact material options that meet the functional needs of hardlines product categories (toys, dolls, collectibles, home, etc.)

  • Develop and drive sustainable/low-impact material implementation strategies for key product lines via supplier bid/selection, cost optimization, and sample evaluation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to understand product material requirements from the perspective of product design, brand merchandising, and our park guests.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of supplier capabilities, performance, and sustainability credentials to ensure adherence to our ethical and environmental standards.

  • Work in partnership with our internal sustainability team to track and report key performance indicators related to sustainable material sourcing as they contribute to the company's overall sustainability initiatives.

  • Monitor market trends and developments in the sustainable material field, staying informed about new technologies and advancements in both materials and processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, materials science, or a related field.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in product development, product engineering, hardlines manufacturing or a related field – toy industry experience a plus.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of plastic and resin materials and their related production processes.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset focused on achieving sustainable procurement objectives.

  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers based on transparency and mutual sustainability goals.

  • Familiarity with industry certifications, standards, and regulations related to sustainable sourcing and environmental sustainability are a plus.

  • Passion for sustainability and a deep commitment to reducing environmental impact through responsible sourcing practices.

This position is only available on-site in Kissimmee, Florida and will be in-office 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday, with flexibility on Fridays. Relocation assistance is available.
