Construction Site Safety Professional 

Summary

Position dedicated to the development, implementation, and promotion of a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment for a Central Florida based contractor specializing in site development, underground utilities, and bridge/highway contracts throughout Florida. Our company is rapidly growing with opportunity for future career development and advancement.  

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with all departments on planning, solution, and training for best practice to properly eliminate or control hazards by use of engineered systems or personal protective equipment

  • Some knowledge of industry safety standards and the ability to research and learn as needed

  • Ensures company compliance with applicable state and federal MSHA, OSHA, FDOT, and internal policy requirements and standards

  • Professionally represent the company with 3rd party regulatory agencies

  • Conducts observations, inspections and audits. Prepares reports and communicates unsafe findings to appropriate authorities to address root causes and determining corrective action

  • Supports and drives the investigation of near misses, incidents, and coordinates the preparation of material and evidence to identify root causes for the purpose of developing corrective and preventative actions

  • Case management by way of communicating with management, staff, and medical providers and maintaining required records.

  • Comfortably communicate and conduct training to employees in group field or classroom settings

  • Provide first-aid care to minor injuries

    ·         Other Tasks as needed

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or

ability required.

·        Minimum five (5) years of field experience in the construction industry (or  years of experience may be substituted by bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, civil engineering, or construction management)

·        Must pass background check and drug screen

  • Possess/maintain a valid State driver's license.

  • Must be flexible to work variable shifts, and some Saturdays

  • Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during irregular operation

  • Basic computer skills with some competency in Microsoft word/excel

  • Excellent communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and ability to prioritize, organize and manage time

  • Ability to travel within the state of Florida, overnight stay minimal

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders outdoors for an extended period of time

    Preferred Qualifications:

    ·        OSHA-30H

    ·        Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English)

  • CPR/First Aid & BBP
