Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and development of medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle fuel systems.

  • Manage fuel system projects for diesel, gasoline, hydrogen, and natural gas systems on PACCAR’s North American internal combustion engine product portfolio, from definition to closure.

  • Complete work related to engineering operational metrics, regulation changes, production support, field service, and customer option approval requests.

  • Gain breadth of knowledge in the project release process by working with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Utilize Creo to create 3D models of optimized parts, routings, and assemblies of complex designs.

  • Work with the PACCAR Technical Center and external organizations to validate your designs.

  • Work within a phase-gate product creation process to manage projects, measure progress, and govern the use of Six Sigma tools and deliverables.

    Qualifications & Skills

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required; Master’s degree in business or engineering and a P.E. certificate is preferred.

  • 0-1 years of experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components preferred

  • Experience in the use of Creo or other CAD modeling software.

  • Experience working onsite at a PACCAR facility is preferred.

  • Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.

  • Familiarity with project management methods and tools, PMP certification, or other project management training desired.

  • Candidate should be willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.

  • Requires independent judgment and effective project management.

  • Ability to manage costs, time and resources, strong communication skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% to support project truck builds at PACCAR manufacturing plants, collaboration visits to other PACCAR locations, and visits to supplier partners.

The salary range for Mechanical Design Engineer- Fuel Systems is $65,500-$98,300 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
