Sigma Design is a product development, engineering, and manufacturing firm. We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team in Kirkland, WA.  This role is full-time in-office. The pay range is $118,000-$130,000/year DOE.

Primary Function:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will optimize the manufacturing lines, tools and processes used to assemble and test electro-mechanical devices in a way that makes it easy for the assembly and test team to do the right thing. This involves heavy interaction with internal Sigma Design Quality and Engineering teams, in addition to customers.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for line bring up activities, such as station layouts, process flow, and tooling required for assembly and test.

  • Architect assembly and test tooling, generate scoping documentation and develop specifications.

  • Comfortable with Lean methodologies to reduce waste and increase efficiency where possible.

  • Support fixture design, feedback, and validation towards build readiness milestones

  • Interface with SIGMADESIGN’s Design Engineering Team for DFM, product design and tooling assistance.

  • Monitor resource and equipment needs and proactively seek additional resources as required by the project’s workflow.

  • Work with team to establish aggressive but realistic project timelines and milestones

  • Conduct design reviews with the project team and the client to ensure the projects are on a successful path.

  • Manage risks and provide scalable mitigation strategies for prototype builds.

  • Take proactive action to reduce risk, feature creep, cost overruns, and head off problems before they become critical.

  • Make certain that any regulatory, compliance, quality standards, and safety standards that apply are met.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that all documentation, and client documentation deliverables are complete and accurate.

  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Systems or Manufacturing Engineering required with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Experience integrating complex mechanical and electrical systems

  • Strong client interaction skills and experience estimating, quoting, and conducting change management on projects.

  • Demonstrated track record of working as part of a cross-functional team to deliver results with exceptional quality, in addition to being on time, on budget and meeting the needs of the customer.

  • Ability to track day-to-day project requirements, issues, and risk mitigation.

  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to solve complex system level issues.

  • Ability to plan work and accomplish challenging objectives with minimal direction.

  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to SIGMADESIGN Core Values.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. GSuite is a plus.

  • Familiarity with project management software. Jira is a plus.

  • Pass a post-offer background verification.

    Work Environment

    Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
