Description

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking an EMI Engineering Technician Specialist to join our cohesive team of professional problem solvers in Kirkland, WA .

JOB SUMMARY

The EMI Engineering Technician Specialist will consistently work on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform DO-160 and MIL-STD-461 EMI emissions and susceptibility tests, and troubleshoot issues, using industry leading EMI test equipment and accredited in-house anechoic chamber

  • Actively support Astronics company and industry processes to maintain an accredited EMI laboratory, and support accreditation audits

  • Facilitate EMI testing with product groups

  • Participate in EMI setup with product groups

  • Provide recommendations to product teams for EMI setups

  • Manage calibrated EMI test equipment for a state-of-the-art EMI test facility

  • Experience in using computer based tools and procedures to perform, document, and track testing

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team structured environment and support extended business hours or weekends, as required.

  • Coordinate work effort with other groups as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree (AS) in Electronics Technology or related field/ equivalent electronics military schooling and experience required.

  • *High-power electronics and/or high-power avionics technician experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Total qualifying experience must meet the years, duties, skills and proficiency required to perform the position level standards.

  • Demonstrates proficiency (typically 6+ years of direct experience in the duties and responsibilities of the position)

  • Drafting, Laying Out, and Specifying Technical Devices, Parts, and Equipment — Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used

  • Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards — Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with standards

  • Visualization — The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged

  • Thinking Creatively — Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products

  • Design — Knowledge of, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, schematics, and drawings

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

  • Dealing with ambiguity - Ability to lead and model effective behaviors and work approaches in an ambiguous environment; creates solutions to complex problems in an ambiguous environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Expert Electrical/electronic circuit/component knowledge AND/OR expert mechanical knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of computer SW and operating systems

  • Data base user interface and query software

  • Electronic mail software

  • Enterprise resource planning ERP software

  • Microsoft Office

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Physical Abilities:

  • Manual dexterity

  • Lifting heavy (typically 40 lbs.) items

Work Environment:

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by I nternational Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible .

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis .

Base salary range is $41.13 - $61.69 per hour.

Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered.
