Requisition Summary

PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for a Supervisor within the Electronics Architecture team. The successful candidate will coordinate Embedded Engineering product development across multiple concurrent development programs to meet program schedules. The ideal candidate will be able to lead engineers to deliver critical program goals across multiple projects and continue to enhance PACCAR’s global functional and system development processes.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to decompose requirements specifications into product deliverables.

  • Manage team deliverables across multiple projects and programs for all stages of product development (Definition, Concept, Engineering, and Verification/Validation), and adapt job responsibilities within the team to ensure successful completion.

  • Supervise design and release of embedded architecture, systems, or software components to heavy commercial trucks

  • Obtain agreement from cross-divisional counterparts on global design direction

  • Lead change management boards and other governance processes to maximize reuse of embedded systems or software components globally within PACCAR.

  • Support deployment of ISO26262 and ASPiCE disciplines throughout PACCAR, and develop department processes to support wider corporate initiatives.

  • Work with counterparts throughout PACCAR to provide a global approach to Embedded Engineering, and maintain corporate specifications where appropriate

  • Develop and maintain department and program resource plans and budgets related to the assigned development team.

  • Provide written and verbal updates to PACCAR senior management on product development progress, program objectives, department strategic goals, or globally aligned roadmaps

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers across a variety of Embedded Engineering disciplines.

  • Up to 10% travel (domestic and international)

    Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science required.

  • 5+ years of design or validation of embedded systems or software required with relevant experience in the automotive or trucking industry.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Prior experience with Agile Development practices is preferred.

  • Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939, and LIN preferred.

  • Knowledge of ISO26262 and ASPiCE is preferred.

  • Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and System Modeling tools such as IBM DOORS, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Team Concert, MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and HP Quality Center preferred.

  • Significant experience with advanced features in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.

  • Solid Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines and tools preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Able to work in a team environment where multiple active projects require effective coordination of multiple concurrent tasks.

    Additional Job Board Information

    At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for Embedded Engineering Supervisor - Electronics Architecture is $110,600-$173,000 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
