PACCAR Inc. Design Engineer - Electrified Powertrain Job in Kirkland, Washington

Requisition Summary Kenworth is expanding its Powertrain team to include integration of electrified powertrains as well as advanced diesel powertrains. We are looking to add engineers to the team who are knowledgeable in vehicle powertrain integration and have experience or the desire to gain experience in electric powertrain design. Our ideal candidates will be motivated to contribute to a new generation of vehicles at Kenworth and PACCAR globally. This position is within the Powertrain Engineering department at Kenworth. Responsibilities will include requirements definition, investigative, development, coordination, and implementation activities. The team will interface with other teams at PACCAR developing other related systems and representing North American vehicle requirements in our global organization. Job Functions / Responsibilities Define requirements for, evaluate, design, and select powertrain systems appropriate for PACCAR diesel, BEV, and other alternative power source vehicles. Define integration requirements and lead the implementation into medium and heavy-duty trucks Lead benchmarking activities, and technology evaluation, and participate in the development of validation standards for responsible systems Drive chosen supplier partners to meet program schedules and milestones Support efforts with lead teams at other PACCAR divisions to ensure successful global launches of PACCAR vehicles.Includes interfacing with PACCAR Technical Center, Peterbilt, DAF, and PACCAR purchasing. Communicate results and progress to team and stakeholders regularly and facilitate technology transfer between PACCAR divisions Qualifications / Skills B.S. in Mechanical Engineeringor equivalent engineering degree required; Master's Degree and P.E. license preferred Passion and interest in working on commercial vehicle powertrains, including next-generation electrified drivetrains and vehicles Overall product knowledge required; engine, cooling, and transmission system experience preferred Demonstrated prior design experience; project management, and/or design lead experience preferred Experience working within a gated product creation process desired Demonstrated CAD / 3D Modeling experience; Creo preferred Experience with system-level requirements development, component selection, integration, performance, and validation Previously demonstrated resourcefulness, strong technical knowledge, analytical capability, and communication skills.
