UHS is currently recruiting for our Assistant Division Director - Free Standing Emergency Departmet Clinical Operations. The role oversees integration, coordination, and direction of nursing and patient care within the FEDs. The individual will direct nursing and patient care to ensure that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing, and accreditation requirements. This leader will participate in strategic planning and contribute to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives, while promoting a culture of Service Excellence with all customer groups.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Develops standardized job descriptions.

  2. Develops standardized competencies.

  3. Standardizes the staffing guidelines (based on guidance from Paula).

  4. Develops plans for future manpower acquisition and retention.

  5. Standardizes FED nursing policies.

  6. Develops standard education for FED nurses.

  7. Develops consistent PI plan for all FED’s. May rely on Corp PI projects.

  8. Assures consistent patient safety program.

  9. Collaborates with physicians on clinical practice.

  10. Assures consistent delivery model / work design for patient care.

  11. Maintains knowledge of changing trends in FED’s.

  12. Coordinates and assures regulatory compliance.

    Qualifications

Licensure: Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of employment.

Education: BSN required, Master's Degree preferrred.

Professional Knowledge: Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management. Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities. Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

Experience: Five or more years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care setting.

Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment. Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities. Demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships.

Equipment, Applications and Tools Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency with common computer-based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases, whether PC, network or mainframe based.

Travel Requirements : Occasional US travel to conferences and UHS management meetings. Travel to FEDs in assigned Market.
