Kilgore College Assistant Men's Basketball Coach in Kilgore, Texas

Position Details:

The assistant basketball coach is responsible for assisting in operations of the basketball program within the policies and procedures of the National Junior College Athletic Association, Region XIV and Kilgore College. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach, administrative offices and various departments on campus. Professionalism and good rapport among students, staff and faculty must be established, maintained and promoted.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating practice planning and regime for pitchers and catchers in-season and off-season

  • Practice and maintain discipline and structure of program among student athletes

  • Ensure that a high level of competition is consistent at all levels throughout the program

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote student athlete success

  • Recruiting potential student athletes’ year round

  • Monitoring academic standing and eligibility of student athletes

  • Follow the college’s business policies and approved practices

  • Upkeep of equipment inventory and organization

  • Ability to perform work beyond standard 40-hour work week and meet the physical demands of practice expectations. Assisting in:

  • Facility and field maintenance

  • Team travel and game day preparations

  • Social media content, scouting reports, and film/stats breakdown

  • Fundraising

  • Scheduling and assigning community service events

  • Practice planning for offense and defense

  • Other duties as assigned by head coach or Director of Athletics

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum collegiate playing experience at any level.

  • Individuals must possess strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have working knowledge of various technology platforms and software such as: Google, Microsoft, Gamechanger, Hudl, etc.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, ability to establish professional relationships among students, staff and administration

    Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

  • Salary for this part time position is $19,500 annually

  • Housing is provided for this position within the KC dorms  

  • Worker’s compensation 

  • Participation in the retirement program through Teacher Retirement System of Texas
