Federal Emergency Management Agency Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist (Recovery) in Kihei, Hawaii

In this Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist (Recovery) position, you will oversee staff who perform substantive mission-oriented work in a FEMA Long Term Recovery Office (LTRO) and serving as a senior level advisor to LTRO and Regional recovery staff and leadership concerning policy issues dealing with assisting individuals and/or communities by providing disaster support and delivering disaster assistance.

Typical assignments include:

  • Supporting emergency recovery activities focused on Individual Assistance Programs to ensure the timely provision of life-sustaining services and resources to evacuees and disaster survivors.
  • Executing the most complex and unprecedented aspects of Individual Assistance programs and coordination with stakeholders in advance of transition of Joint Field Office (JFO) operations to LTRO, in cooperation with designated Federal Coordinating Officers and LTRO Director, and during post-JFO operations including closeout functions.
  • Coordinating with other Federal agencies, FEMA regional staffs, and State government agencies to ensure the capability to continue essential functions during any event or incident.
  • Developing and issuing recovery plans, procedures, and risk assessments with voluntary organization partners to fulfill requests in a timely and effective manner.
  • Evaluating plans and guidance for compliance with established emergency management directives, overarching policies, and enabling legislation.
