Sr. Mechanical Engineer - SCI

KBR is seeking engineers to join our team in Kihei, HI

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, operate, and maintain custom and COTS electrical systems for sensors, telescopes, lasers, adaptive optics and ancillary observatory equipment.

  • Prepare and maintain electrical systems specifications and CAD drawings.

  • Design and oversee testing of custom telescope and imaging systems, including adaptive optics, lasers, mount control, tracking, and atmospheric compensation capabilities.

  • Oversee installation and testing of electrical equipment to confirm compliance with customer requirements.

  • Develop cost effective and innovative solutions to improve performance, reliability, and safety of observatory operations.

  • Work closely with the Government customer to identify future needs and develop plans for tech refresh or site improvements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years' experience

  • COTS

  • Auto CAD

Education Requirements:

  • BS in STEM or related field

Clearance: TS/SCI required
