RK&K Engineer I -Water/Wastewater in Keyser, West Virginia

RKandK is hiring aWater/Wastewater Engineerfor our Keyser office. In this role, you will work closely with project managers and other team members to execute work involving engineering principals and other related activities. You will provide planning, design and construction support on a variety of engineering projects with a focus on water and wastewater design, including pump stations and treatment plants.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution/collection conveyance systems
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systems
  • Assist with the preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
  • Assist with project management activities for select tasks and develop Project management skills for expanded responsibilities and internal Project management assignments
  • Support field testing and investigations when required
  • Support construction projects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders) when required
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, GIS, designers, and other engineers

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
  • Zero to three years of professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater facilities and conveyance infrastructure
  • A self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting the Water and Wastewater Group
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

  • E.I.T. Certification
  • CADD (Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer) software applications
  • Prior experience/internship with civil engineering firm
