Amazon Transportation Support Specialist

Shift: Mon-Friday 1800-0230.

This role is an onsite night shift only.

This position requires a Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) and is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements.

Amazon is seeking Transportation Support Specialists to work in our facilities throughout the United States. As a Transportation Support Specialist, you will train drivers on safe driving practices and ensure drivers are in compliance with Amazon training, safety and maintenance standards. Training will involve a mix of both classroom and behind-the-wheel time. While primarily centered on creating and delivering driver training, Transportation Support Specialists will support elements of related Safety, Compliance, and Maintenance programs.

As a Transportation Support Specialist you will:

• Partner with Operations Managers and Area Managers to coordinate, facilitate, and measure training related activities

• Track performance and provide identified retraining and process improvement opportunities to further develop CDL and non-CDL driver training

• Provide timely and accurate reporting on the completion of trainings, compliance, safety, and maintenance duties

• Create and communicate driver safety bulletins to local teams

• Create new training content to address gaps in driver skill, or mitigate safety and compliance risk

• Educate and audit driver safety and compliance standards such as: driver vehicle inspection reports, hours of service, trip planning and safe road driving practices

• Support equipment standard work within a node, including inspecting equipment, creating repair requests, monitoring repair execution, ensuring on-time preventive maintenance, managing campaigns and recalls, and maintaining unit history (e.g., for washes, warranties, registrations)

• Work different shifts and travel to support other sites, up to 50%

• Candidates must be able to travel to multiple sites within 250 miles of their home building and have reliable transportation.

• Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck as scheduled using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.), with or without reasonable accommodation

• Lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA(R) rules, regulations, and record keeping

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent diploma

  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and eligibility to drive in accordance with DOT requirements

  • Previous yard driver/yard hostler experience at Amazon or equivalent driver experience

  • 1+ years verifiable CDL driving experience in the last 10 years

  • 1 + years of experience working with computers and Microsoft Office (including outlook, Word, and Excel)

  • Must be able to work 40 hours/week and overtime as required

  • Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules/shifts/areas, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must hold a valid and active USA state drivers license.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience

  • Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation

  • 2+ years CDL driver training experience

  • 6+ months of Peer Driver Trainer (PDT) experience

  • Direct management/supervision experience of CDL drivers/employees
