Located in Kennesaw, GAthe Learning Specialist schedules and delivers training and development to Devereux employees and community programs (Specialty Foster Care and CCI Program) using a variety of instructional strategies and activities suited for adult learners. The Learning Specialist will monitor, evaluate, and record training activities as well as assist to create and develop training materials. In addition, the Learning Specialist will be responsible for new hire orientation, complete management and administrative tasks related to the Learning Management System (LMS), organizational compliance with licensing and training standards, entering, monitoring, analyzing and reporting data and file maintenance. The Learning Specialist will also help the Learning Manager to coordinate a team of certified trainers.

Some travel required to cover community programs. Travel will be within a 60 mile radius of the Kennesaw, GA location. A company vehicle is provided for travel purposes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Resources, Business, Human Services or related field AND two (2+) years of formal training experience, preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

EXPERIENCE: One to three years of experience in a behavioral health care setting. Previous experience as atrainer or presenter is preferred. Certification in several knowledge areas is preferred. (e.g. Safe and Positive Approaches, Suicide Prevention, New Directions, First Aid/CPR, etc.) Must have skill in MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel, general administrative and clerical skills and be willing to learn additional skills.

Other qualifications:

  • Some travel required to community programs (Specialty Foster Care and CCI Program). Travel is within a 60 mile radius of the Kennesaw campus. Company vehicle provided for travel purposes.

  • Must possess excellent public speaking skills, multitasking skills, problem-solving and interpersonal skills; written/verbal communication skills, planning and organizational skills are required.

  • Strong passion for training new staff and helping improve overall job performance.

  • Must be able to pass CPR certification and all in-house/company-wide certifications/trainings.

  • Be empathetic, a team player, creative and energetic.

  • Have a strong passion for working with and helping children & adolescents & the ability to represent yourself as a positive role model.

  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required; comfortable utilizing in-house computer applications also required.

  • Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Drug Screen and Background Check results.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must be able to complete a two-week, paid new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 8:30am to 5:30pm daily.
