Amentum Mechanic in Kekaha, Hawaii

Amentum is seeking a Mechanic for a position on Kauai, HI . Supporting the Transportation Department. Under general direction of a supervisor or Lead-person, will perform a variety of work related to the operation and maintenance of Transportation vehicles and equipment; ensures timely and efficient accomplishment of assigned duties; and prepare and maintain reports and records related to work assignments.

Responsibilities

The individual will perform a variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of all Transportation vehicles and equipment, such as Specific assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:

  • Operate diagnostic and other test equipment related to vehicle maintenance and repair; prepare shop repair orders; research and identify parts from catalogs; perform maintenance, repair, overhaul, and replacement of parts related to the operation of vehicles and equipment; and be able to operate all vehicles and equipment.

  • Knowledgeable in operating principles of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment and associated electrical systems, and electronic controls, hydraulics, brake systems, and drive train components.

  • Works with other semi-skilled and skilled craftsperson and coordinates with members of other activities to ensure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties.

  • Provides guidance, orientation, and training to newly assigned employees.

  • Responsible for care of Government equipment, tools, property, and materials, and assure that they are properly maintained and safeguarded.

  • Performs specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions and observes safety, fire, health, and work rules.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lifting. Pushing, and pulling of over 50 lbs. (two-men assist)

  • Work positions requirements: walking, standing, crawling, kneeling or cramped. Work requiring repeated stooping or frequent climbing.

  • Working environment activities: Customer contact, confined work area, and field assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A.S. Degree or completion of a 2 Year Technical or Trade School or equivalent.

Experience

  • Two years specific work experience in gasoline and diesel engine repair.

  • State Motor Vehicle Certified Mechanic License (ASE) is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform may be substituted for formal training.

Preferred

  • Experience in the operation and repair of cranes and heavy equipment.

  • ASE certified in electronic engine diagnosis.

  • Possess or able to obtain a Class A CDL license with X endorsement.

Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
