Job Title: Information Assurance Engineer II

Job Description:

Information Assurance (IA) personnel will monitor and control the performance, security and status of network resources; ensure certification and accreditation/management of the information systems; identify, diagnose and mitigate problems and factors affecting network performance; and conduct assessments of system safeguards and controls making recommendations for upgrade/changes as needed. Individual will ensure all systems meet the proper security accreditation as required by DoD Risk Information Management Framework (RMF); manage the Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) for the system to include drafting expectations and waivers; maintain, manage, and develop local System Security Authorization Agreements for routing through the Communications Squadron to the Designated Approval Authority; interface with the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) system for vulnerability management; analyze and report impacts of theft, destruction, alteration and/or denial of access to information; and interface with the 81st Information Technology Systems Flight providing information and responses to external audits.

Candidate will:

  • Provide and document system security planning to include planning for the system development lifecycle.

  • Develop/maintain and measure and report the effectiveness of the Information System Contingency Plan (ISCP) for system recovery and restoration in accordance with NIST standards.

  • Participate in an annual security review and controls testing in accordance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements.

  • Track compliance with the DoD Cyber Awareness Training Program for the MTF and the MTF Software Licenses in accordance with AF rules and regulations.

  • Participate in the 81st Communications Squadron annual security review and controls testing in accordance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).

Required Skills/Education:

Personnel performing IA functions, must have knowledge of and proficiency in the following:

  • The ACAS system used for vulnerability management.

  • The Risk Management Framework (RMF) the DoD Information Assurance Program, Air Force Certification and Accreditation Process (AFCAP), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) standards, Common Criteria Evaluation Scheme (CCEVS) program, Federal Information System Control Audit Manual (FISCAM), as well as relevant DoD and Air Force policy, procedures and guidance related to information assurance

  • Must have and maintain a DOD .8570 IAT Level II certification

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
