Job Summary :

As a Prep Cook at Villa La Paz at the National Chavez Center, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the cleanliness of our kitchen utensils, equipment, and dishes, while also assisting with food preparation tasks to support the culinary team. Your responsibilities include maintaining a sanitary environment, facilitating smooth kitchen operations during events, and upholding the high standards of culinary excellence expected at Villa La Paz. Your attention to detail, efficiency, and dedication contribute to the overall success of our events and the satisfaction of our guests.

Responsibilities :

  • Dishwashing:

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, dishes, glassware, and other equipment promptly and efficiently.

  • Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, dried and stored properly according to health and safety standards.

  • Monitor dishwashing supplies and equipment inventory, reporting any shortages or malfunctions to the kitchen manager.

  • Kitchen Cleaning and Sanitation:

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen area, including workstations, countertops, floors, and storage areas.

  • Adhere to proper sanitation procedures, including the use of sanitizing solutions and the disposal of food waste, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Assist with routine kitchen cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces, to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

  • Food Preparation:

  • Assist the culinary team with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing sauces or dressings.

  • Follow recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation.

  • Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to expedite food production and meet event timelines.

  • Inventory Management:

  • Assist with inventory management by rotating stock, monitoring ingredient levels, and notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages or discrepancies.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage, to ensure efficient inventory management and food safety.

  • Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handwashing techniques, temperature control, and cross-contamination prevention.

  • Follow kitchen safety procedures and use equipment safely to prevent accidents and injuries.

  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the kitchen manager immediately.

  • Event Support:

  • Provide support during events, including setup, teardown, and transportation of food service equipment, supplies, and food items as needed.

  • Assist with food service tasks, such as plating, serving, and replenishing food and beverage stations, to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.

    Salary Range:

    $19.00-$21.00 per hour DOE
