Robert Half Data Center Technician/Field Analyst in Kearny, New Jersey

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a NOC Technician in Woodbridge, New Jersey, United States. The role involves managing and coordinating the load work of building(s) and ensuring the general health of Communication Rooms and storage rooms. The successful candidate will also be responsible for server configurations and equipment troubleshooting, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule EDC workload for the building(s) and coordinate the movement of equipment between rooms, floors, and buildings.

• Translate IT and vendor requests into work orders and review all outstanding scope requests on a daily basis.

• Order appropriate facilities work and perform server configurations and equipment troubleshooting.

• Manage equipment decommissions and re-locations to maximize cabinet space and initiate power requests with the infrastructure team.

• Coordinate work requests with electrical contractor to ensure all service levels are met and provide detailed estimates of assigned projects.

• Monitor environmental conditions and cleanliness of technology spaces and support building power downs.

• Provide post-mortem reports of all troubleshooting and break-fix activity and offer on-call support when required.

• Manage installation requests from initiation to closure and allocate rack position for equipment installation.

• Accept delivery of equipment from staging and coordinate the scheduling of equipment and delivery of equipment to the installation location.

• Test all connections, make all final connections not made by electricians, and label all equipment front and rear.

• Support equipment "go live" for IT Business Units and accept all delivered circuits.

• Support, troubleshoot and perform break-fix work in conjunction with the Communication Room Group, vendor, and customers.

• Develop Method of Procedures for single mode fiber installs and perform quality assurance tests according to specifications.

• Update the various inventory databases each time a device is visited and perform audits and inventories of equipment in the Communication Room. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year experience as a NOC Technician.

• Proficient knowledge of Fiber Optics.

• Solid understanding and experience with Cisco Routers.

• Experienced in managing Router Switches.

• Familiarity with Physical Servers is essential.

• Proficient in Copper Cabling.

• Expertise in Network Cabling is required.

• Must have excellent problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

• Proactive in learning new technologies and skills.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
