Cash-Wa Distributing Inventory Control Specialist in Kearney, Nebraska

In a fast-paced food distribution warehouse with over 20,000 different products, it is critical to ensure that products are where they should be, the count of each product is correct in the system to ensure customers are not shorted product that we said we had but do not, and to keep track of expiration dates. This position will primarily focus on cycle counting in all of our departments which include Dry, Frozen, Cooler, Candy, Tobacco, and C-Store. If you are self-motivated, have excellent attention to details, and solid documentation skills; then this job is for you!

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday: 7am – 5pm

  • May work a couple of weekends a year (typically year-end inventory or special projects)

    Job Summary: Cycle count in all departments. Make sure quantity is matches what is in the system. Problem solve inventory issues.

    Description

  • Cycle Count Overview

  • Typically will do an entire isle at a time

  • Will scan all pallets and ensure that they match the “license plate” (product description card) for that section. If not, then will work to correct product placement and/or system information.

  • Count overstock and pick slots quantities.

  • Expiration Date Review

  • Will identify if products are close-dated (near expiration) to ensure they are processed first; this will notify the Sales team if a product push is needed

  • Requires being able to determine on your own (the system does not do this for you) based on the “born on date” if the product is or is not near expiration.

  • Problem Resolution Form Follow-up

  • The warehouse team will fill out a form if there is a potential inventory issue that you will investigate

  • Common issues include:

  • Inactive License Plate: need to determine if product is misplaced, on order, or no longer carried and that spot needs to be better utilized

  • Missing Product: need to find when the system shows we have product, but it is not in its slot so cannot be picked for our customers.

  • Computer and paperwork processing

  • For the duties listed above, it will require recording and processing both on paper and electronically

  • Other duties as assigned, to include backup for the return department

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs preferred.

  • Regularly performs work requiring the ability to walk long distance; sit a desk for extended period of time if needed; Squatting, kneeling, pushing, bending, standing, walking, kneeling, and pulling.

    Other Requirements:

  • 1 year of relevant experience preferred

  • Basic computer skills

  • Forklift/pallet jack experience helpful
