The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a qualified Electronic Technician D - Data Systems to support our government customer in Kauai, Hawai'i.

Under close supervision, will provide contracted operational and maintenance support services to the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) customer. Individual will troubleshoot, repair, inspect, overhaul, modify, calibrate, install, operate and maintain equipment associated with Data Systems. Must be capable of running various data processing software and tasks and operate computers/workstations to complete post operational data requirements.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:

  • Performs periodic inspections and maintenance tasks with minimum supervision in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines. Records results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records. Troubleshoots and repairs systems equipment by reading and interpreting electronic schematics and manuals using test equipment directly related to the system.

  • Responds to changing operational requirements when directed. Installs, checks, calibrate, operate, and perform acceptance tests on new/relocated systems and equipment in support of Range Operations.

  • Maintains configuration control and property management on assigned systems. Assist in preparing Systems Change Request (SCR) and Network Service Request (NSR).

  • Prepares monthly system reports, preventive maintenance logs, and other logs or reports as they pertain to the day-to-day operations.

  • Assists in preparing and developing new procedures, procedural changes and modification proposals.

  • Ability to support multiple tasks and equipment and cross-training/cross-utilization.

  • Performs other duties as required.

    Environment:

  • Electronics Shop Environment.

  • Must be flexible to work long hours when required.

  • Office conditions are varied and includes physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling up to 25-50 pounds. Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, crawling, kneeling, stooping or cramped working places. Environment will include customer contact and extended workdays.

    REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus one of the below;

  • Associates Degree in related field or equivalent training, e.g. Two (2) Year Technical School or Navy "A" school with either school specializing in Basic Electronics.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field suitable.

  • Possess or be able to obtain a soldering certificate.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the certification requirements within DOD 8570.01-M and an Operating Environment Certification commensurate with contract requirements. (DOD 8570.01-M certification is mandatory within sixty (60) days of employment for continued employment. Certification within the required Computing Environment must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.)

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years experience in a related field of assignment with a minimum of two (2) years in the specific field of assignment.

  • Possess and demonstrate fundamental knowledge of basic electronics theory, computers and be proficient in reading and interpreting complicated schematic diagrams for troubleshooting and repair to the component level.

  • Knowledge of security procedures and handling of classified data.

  • Must possess PC skills: Word, Outlook, and Knowledgeable of LINUX, Windows, Microsoft Office Programs desired.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    Knowledgeable of the workstations and Linux Red Hat and NTADS software programs preferred.

    REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
