Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Accounting required

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • CPA license strongly preferred

Work Experiences:

  • 7-10+ year’s work experience with combination Big 4 / Next 4 accounting firm and industry financial reporting experience

  • Strong history of financial statement accounting and accounting research skills

  • Ability to interpret and apply new accounting guidance

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing data collection and analysis methods to prepare detailed financial information

  • Proven ability to multitask and manage to tight deadlines

  • Workiva experience a plus

Skills:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel

  • Ability to consistently apply sound judgment, and operate professionally, effectively and ethically as an individual contributor and member of a team

  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain harmonious working relationships

  • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create thorough documentation and interface effectively with individuals at various levels

  • Excellent time management skills, ability to support multiple projects, and effectively prioritize and manage a large volume of work

  • Ability to remain organized, pay strict attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines within a high volume, fast-paced environment

  • Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare various financial reports, including quarterly and annual reports in preparation for an IPO

  • Manage and coordinate quarterly financial reviews and annual audit of Academy’s consolidated financial statements, Academy’s Hong Kong subsidiary financial statements and the 401K plan

  • Partner and coordinate with various accounting personnel and departments to receive timely and accurate financial report information

  • Perform technical accounting and SEC reporting research and document Company’s conclusions in technical whitepapers

  • Monitor accounting literature for new reporting requirements that ma potentially impact the Company and lead the implementation of new accounting standards

  • Prepare covenant and management EBITDA calculations, borrowing base certificates, and covenant compliance certificates

  • Lead the monthly balance sheet review meeting with Controller/Accounting Directors/Accounting Managers including the collection and analysis of data received

  • Serve as accounting liaison with external auditors ensuring timely and accurate delivery of supporting documentation

  • Prepare quarterly accounting and regulatory update presentations for the Company’s Audit Committee

  • Provide transaction-oriented accounting and reporting assistance

  • Research disclosure requirements related to technical accounting issues to ensure accuracy of accounting and completeness of disclosures

  • Recognize and apply upcoming accounting standards in preparation for adoption

  • Maintain the in-house SEC reporting tool (Workiva), and ensure appropriate XBRL tags throughout the Form 10-K and 10-Q

  • Participate in month-end and quarter-end accounting close processes, including preparation and review of the cash flow statements, audit schedules and equity schedules

  • Oversee SOX compliance efforts, ensuring effective operation of supported internal controls for financial reporting

  • Participate and/or lead various Corporate Finance & Accounting projects to improve the overall efficiency, timeliness and accuracy of financial close processes

  • Support other internal controls and SOX related procedures as needed

  • Operate in a consultative capacity as a business partner and financial controls expert

  • Responsible for accurate completion of the quarterly GAAP checklist

  • Ensure adherence to deadlines, and complete assigned work activities and planned tasks within specified time frames

  • Special projects and participation in various initiatives, including new system implementation, updates or upgrades

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules

  • Duties may change; team member may be required to perform other duties as assigned
