Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Onsite Accounting Coordinator is responsible for applying the principles of accounting to analyze financial data, accounts payables, accounts receivables and prepare reports. This Accounting Coordinator will work closely with the accounting departments to ensure financial efficiency of the Association’s accounting records.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position reports to the On-site General Manager.

  • Performs various accounting functions for the Association in accordance with standard accounting practices, Association and Company policies, and SOPs.

  • Processes invoices for the Association in accordance with their policies. Assists the accounting department with vendor setup and to coordinate the monthly close/reconciliation process.

  • Review and monitor accruals and journal entries.

  • Participate in internal and external audits.

  • Assist in collection of Accounts Receivable and prepare account reconciliations for certain accounts.

  • Process initial payment plan requests and agreements for residents.

  • Coordinate and process all incoming inquiries regarding various collection matters.

  • Coordinate account turnover to third party collection firms.

  • Assists in making deposits.

  • Assists with closing documents and account transfers as needed.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.

  • Review general ledger monthly and adjust as required.

  • Will be integral in the preparation of monthly financial statements, management and Board reports.

  • Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions.

  • Works with the General Manager to create draft budgets and manage operational budget. Create monthly operations reports and attend meetings as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Accurate and attentive to detail

  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles

  • Proficient computer (Excel and Word)/ten key skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as prorations, discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

This is an onsite position.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education/Experience : BS degree and/or 2-5 years of experience in general Accounting and Collections (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Proficient in learning database software quickly. Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results.

Technical : Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate MS Excel formulas, MS Word Mail Merge, and MS PowerPoint presentations. Intermediate internet navigation skills: General knowledge of navigating web-based applications and the ability to learn specific applications; Ability to use Business Skype; Ability to learn company property management software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment is characteristic of an office environment: sitting, standing, walking, bending and lifting are required to perform job responsibilities. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 20 lbs.
